Mazda to include thousands of vehicles in their airbag recall

Auto manufacturer Mazda recently expanded a recall to include 374,519 vehicles with Takata airbags due to a defect that could potentially cause them to over-inflate and shoot shrapnel into the vehicles upon impact. According to reports, the recall affects at least three later models of Mazda vehicles with defective airbags in the front passenger seats.

The airbags installed in the vehicles apparently manufactured by Takata are at high risk of rupturing when launched and may discharge metal bits. Mazda is one of twelve auto manufacturers that issued a recall to millions of vehicles that are equipped with Takata airbags. Mazda decided to add thousands of vehicles in their recall after Takata recently released new information about the recalled airbags.
