Nissan vehicles with suspension problems recalled in the US

At least 218,019 Nissan Versa subcompacts are being recalled by the manufacturer in some states in America due to a front suspension problem that may result in accidents and injuries, an October 4 article of USA Today reported.

Reports said the front tires of 2007-2012 Versa subcompact vehicles may rupture if the suspension coil gets damaged by corrosion caused by frequent exposure to road salts used during winter seasons. The automaker explained to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the problem can cause drivers to lose control of the affected vehicles and wreck. The recall is limited to those Versas that were sold or are in use in states affected by extreme and persistent cold weather, specifically those in the Midwest and Northeast, as these are the area in which road salts are used more frequently to prevent ice buildup. Nissan is will change the front suspension coils of the affected vehicles.
