263K Hyundai Elantras recalled for faulty power steering

Hyundai Motor recently issued a recall of approximately 263,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada due to a power steering problem that may cause the vehicles to crash, USA Today reported on March 1.

The recall covers earlier models of Elantra sedan and touring version vehicles with a faulty power steering sensor. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem may possibly result in accidents because vehicle drivers will have to control the steering wheel manually. The automaker’s office in the U.S. said that they are so far unaware of any accidents or injuries that were caused by the recalled Elantras. Hyundai said they will coordinate with the affected Elantra owners by having dealerships repair their vehicles for free.
