30K Toyota minivans with airbag issues recalled

Toyota recently issued recall to estimated 30,000 minivans due to an airbag problem that may potentially cause injuries to its occupants, The New York Times reported on November 26.

According to reports, the bulk of the recalled Sienna minivans are isolated to the U.S. The primary concern is that the plastic handles near the side-curtain airbags in the middle row of seats may strike occupants when the airbags are deployed. These airbags are designed especially to protect the head in side collisions. Toyota stated that incidents of injuries or fatal accidents involving the affected Sienna minivans have not been reported.
