Child ejected from car seat in rollover accident

A toddler was ejected from a car seat following a rollover crash on the Southfield Freeway on September 18, police said.

The driver of a 2006 Chrysler SUV lost control of the vehicle on southbound M-39 near Plymouth at about 3:30 a.m., according to Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw.

Four people, including an 8- and a 3-year old, sustained non-life threatening injuries from the accident. The toddler’s seat was not installed properly. All four were rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment and both children were transferred later to a children’s hospital in Detroit.

Police are still investigating who was driving at the time of the crash and believe alcohol may have been a factor.
