Close to 800,000 Toyota cars with suspension problems to be recalled

In an announcement made Monday, September 9, Toyota notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of its intention to recall nearly 800,000 units of hybrid cars and crossovers in connection with a poorly fixed suspension system, supposedly fixed in a previous recall.

A problem concerning the suspension system remains on its 2010 Lexus HS250 hybrid sedans and the 2006 – 2011 Toyota RAV4 crossover models.

An unstable rear suspension mechanism prone to rusting over time poses a dangerous risk of car accidents ocurring due to suspension breakdown. The screws to adjust alignment of the rear wheels in the two Toyota models were discovered to be loose and tightening-epoxy sealing needed to stop corrosion.

Last week, Toyota Senior Vice President Bob Carter said they are working overtime in order to finish the whole recall procedure by mid-February.
