Woman pleads not guilty to felony hit and run charge

A woman who turned herself in to police after hitting a 10-year-old girl with her SUV has plead not guilty to resulting the felony hit and run charge.

Daisy J. Sanchez, 20, hit the young girl on August 24. The child was crossing the street after buying ice cream from a truck. Sanchez says she saw the child, but was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision. She pulled to the side of the road, but then decided to drive away without checking the little girl’s condition.

A witness followed her as she drove away, but gave up pursuit when Sanchez got out of her car and allegedly threatened to kill him. Luckily, the little girl was uninjured. However, pedestrian accidents often result in serious injuries or loss of life. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 4,280 deaths in pedestrian accidents in 2010.

If you have been hurt in a car accident through no fault of your own, a car accident lawyer may be able to seek compensation for your injuries.
