Wood County sued by injured moped driver

Wood County, the Sheriff’s Department, a deputy, and their insurance companies are being sued by an injured Wisconsin Rapids man after a deputy hit him on his moped last October.

The 38 year-old moped driver is seeking compensation for pain and suffering, loss of income, medical expenses, and possible permanent injury. No dollar amount was given. He was injured last October when he was hit by a deputy’s squad car as he was turning left.

The deputy was looking at his phone at the time of the accident and was cited for distracted driving. The man was taken to Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital after the crash with undisclosed injuries.
