Teenager causes deadly accident

A 17 year-old girl caused a fatal one-car accident Sunday afternoon in Green Garden Township that killed her male passenger. An unidentified man from Racine was ejected from the vehicle after it flipped several times.

Authorities suspect that the teenager, who only had a learner’s permit, was speeding on Scheer Road when she lost control on the gravel shoulder, which caused the vehicle to roll.

The girl had to be extricated from the car. She was transported to Silver Cross Hospital with arm and head injuries. An investigation into the accident is ongoing. So far no charges have been filed.
