Man charged in drunk driving death of wife

A Wisconsin man faces several homicide charges related to the death of his wife after they were both involved in a fatal car accident New Year’s Day. The man, who was driving the car, had a blood alcohol content of 0.17 at the time of the crash.

According to the criminal complaint, the couple was headed back home from New Year’s Eve celebrations with friends when the car drove into a ditch. A crash reconstruction determined that the driver was going more than ten miles over the speed limit.

He is charged with homicide by the use of a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration, homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and intoxicated vehicular homicide. He could face up to 60 years in prison and $225,000 in fines if convicted.
