Man pronounced dead after snowmobile accident

A snowmobiler was killed Friday afternoon in Milton Township after colliding into a cable strung between two fence posts.

The 28 year-old man from St. Cloud, Minnesota was ejected from the snowmobile upon hitting the cable and emergency responders say he was unresponsive when they arrived. He was transported to Winona Community Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.

According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, alcohol and speed are believed to have been a factor in the crash. Another snowmobiler, 38, was there at the scene but was not injured.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is currently investigating the crash.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.
