January Car Accidents Cause 36 Deaths in Wisconsin

Of 34 car accidents that occurred in Wisconsin in the month of January alone, 36 people were killed. This number comes from Wisconsin’s Department of Transportation, which also found that in 2010, car crashes caused over 500 deaths. The people killed included pedestrians, passengers, and drivers who were involved in accidents in January 2011.

Many deaths caused by car accidents can be prevented if drivers eliminate outside distractions, such as texting or talking on a cell phone. Deaths due to car crashes are also significantly increased during winter months when dangerous weather, such as ice and snow, impair a driver’s ability to see. Drivers are encouraged to practice safe driving to reduce the number of deaths caused by car accidents.
