Large trucks are an important part of our nation’s system of commerce, and they help to keep our country moving. But negligent truck drivers can pose a significant safety threat to other motorists. Eighteen wheelers and other large trucks have dangerous blind spots that drivers must check to ensure that they do not collide with other vehicles.
If you or someone you love has been injured in an accident involving a large truck, you deserve a chance to seek justice and fair compensation. An accident caused by the negligence of a truck driver can have serious consequences. Avoiding Truck No-Zones
Every car has blind spots, and every driver is responsible for checking his or her lane before making a lane change or other maneuver. These blind spots, or no-zones, are significantly larger on eighteen wheelers and other large vehicles because of the position of the driver compared to the rest of the vehicle.
The following areas of a large truck can be dangerous for passing drivers:
- Directly in front of the cab of a large truck
- Any area along the right and left side where the driver’s face cannot be seen in the truck’s side mirrors
- Following closely behind a large truck
In general, if you cannot see a truck driver in his or her side mirrors, the truck driver cannot see you. While it is important for automobile drivers to be aware of these truck no-zones, truck drivers may be responsible for injuries resulting from no-zone accidents.
