32-year old Justin Condon of Brodhead, Wisconsin was killed in a tragic truck accident while driving on Wisconsin Highway 81.

The accident occurred just after 9 PM yesterday evening when Condon was traveling east on 81.  Condon swerved left of center into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a semi-truck.  The semi-truck’s driver, 44-year old Jeffrey Smith of Rockford, told police officers that he tried to avoid Condon’s mini-van but it was too late.  Authorities declared Condon dead upon impact.

Smith was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

A 29-year-old man was killed in a truck accident in Green Bay on Interstate 57.

The accident occurred just before 3 a.m. when the driver of the semi-truck was hauling hay on Interstate 57 when he collided with a utility vehicle. The passenger of the second vehicle was killed in the accident. A 19-year-old man was seriously injured and two others, including the driver of the semi-truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Officials have said that they believe that the driver of the semi-truck may have fallen asleep at the wheel right before the accident. The roadway was closed for several hours after the accident occurred in order for police to investigate and for emergency crews to work.

Truck accidents can happen unexpectedly and have devastating effects on everyone involved, our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim.
