GM recall thousands of Saturn Aura sedans with faulty transmission cables

General Motors Co. (GM) is recalling thousands of Saturn Aura sedan models due to a faulty transmission cable that can cause serious accidents and resulting injuries.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said some 59,628 sedans were affected by a transmission cable that may easily break. Drivers of the recalled sedans may find it impossible to shift to “park” mode if the cable is broken. Over two dozen crashes and four injuries have been connected to this problem, but fortunately, no fatalities have been reported. The car maker said it will replace the faulty transmission cables and mounting brackets for free.
