Former Woodstock woman faces charges again after a fatal crash

A former Woodstock woman was charged with homicide by drunken driving after a crash on Sunday morning that killed Daniel Wetzel, 51, of Lanark, Wisconsin.

According to the authorities, Hanna M. Schact, 23, of Portgage, Wisconsin, hit Wetzel at 10:20 a.m in central Wisconsin. Her blood alcohol level was allegedly around twice the legal driving limit.

In 2012 Schact faced similar charges when she did not report an accident involving a drug dealer who hit his head after falling off a roof of the car she was driving and later died. She was reportedly driving a getaway car with a friend who tried to steal marijuana from the drug dealer, according to the Wausau Daily Herald.

Schact is currently in jail with a $100,000 bond. She’s due in court on September 30, according to WSAW.com.

Losing a loved one in a drunk driving accident is tragic and overwhelming. Our legal team at Habush Habush & Rottier knows all too well the pain and grief a family can face after this and sends their condolences to Wetzel’s family.
