Drinking suspected in two car crash

Posted on Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 at 2:52 pm

A two-car accident occurred over the weekend in Lincoln, outside of Warrens. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department believes alcohol was a factor in a crash that injured both drivers.

A 44 year-old woman is believed to have been drunk when she pulled out of a parking lot near Highway 12 and Highway EW and struck another vehicle. The 54 year-old driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to Tomah Memorial. The 44 year-old suffered serious injuries and was transported to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital while her passenger was not harmed.

Both the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating the crash.

Local task force will patrol post-Packers game

Posted on Monday, December 19th, 2011 at 2:50 pm

The Brown County drunk driving task force is gearing up for a four hour sting following Green Bay’s divisional playoff game next month, and, if necessary, for the NFC Championship game.

Earlier this month, the task force did a trial run and cited six individuals with drunk driving after the Packers-Raiders game. The task force is funded by a $96,000 federal grant, and the program has received several requests from local residents to patrol after Packers home games. Since early October, officers have given 32 drivers drunk driving citations.

If you plan on going to the Packers game in January, it is important to take extra precautions whether you will be drinking or not. Patrons will not be able to purchase more than two alcoholic drinks at a time and last call is in the third quarter. Designated driver programs are available and Green Bay Metro is providing free bus rides.

If you have been injured in a dangerous alcohol-related accident, contact the Green Bay drunk driving accident lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2874.

Two killed in car accident

Posted on Wednesday, December 14th, 2011 at 11:14 am

A 39 year-old man and a 22 year-old woman were killed Saturday night after their cars collided on Highway 26.

The man was driving northbound when he lost control of his vehicle and hit the woman who was headed southbound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Her 23 year-old passenger is listed in critical condition at University Hospital in Madison.

Officers have seen several fatal accidents on this stretch of Highway 26, which sees a lot of traffic coming and going from Madison and Green Bay. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation updated the highway by adding passing lanes to help alleviate the number of accidents. The Sheriff’s Office usually patrols the highway due to tragic record.

Our deepest sympathies are with the friends and families of the two victims.

Subaru and Honda issue recalls

Posted on Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 at 11:38 am

Nearly 32,000 Subaru models and 126,000 Honda motorcycles are being recalled due to problems with their brakes.

The 2012 Subaru Outback, Legacy, and Impreza have received over a hundred complaints about their brake pedals. Drivers have said the pedals shift down further than expected, causing people to miscalculate how much pressure to apply when stopping. No accidents or injuries have been reported due to this malfunction.

Honda GL-1800 motorcycles made from 2001-2012 are being recalled for a rear brake defect that can cause the brake to drag. Accidents or fire could result. Honda has received over two dozen complaints, two of which have resulted in fire. The automaker says only about 4% of the GL-1800 models have this problem.

If you believe your car accident was the result of defective brakes, contact the Green Bay brake defect lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. at 800-242-2874 today.
